How well do you know the world’s most popular non-surgical aesthetic treatments? We’re referring to Botox® and dermal fillers, of course, the injectables that millions of people choose every year to smooth lines, replenish lost volume and look years younger without surgery.

If you’re a fan of injectables or considering treatment, here are some proven tips for ensuring your best results! Following this advice will go a long way toward reducing your risk for side effects, speeding healing, and ensuring you have a great experience all around.

Do: Take selfies

With any cosmetic treatment, especially injectables, it’s easy to lose perspective and think you need more and more of something when, in fact, you look fabulous! The only accurate way to measure your progress and maintain a healthy perspective is to remember where you started. You can do this by taking before and after pictures on your phone.

Do: Research (expectations & quality injector)

You can find lots of information on our Botox and dermal fillers pages that may answer some of your initial questions about injectables, from the kinds we offer to what the differences are between them. If you feel nervous or unsure about your first injectables treatment, learning more about them can often help diminish fear or nerves! Not only that, but understanding the value of choosing the highest quality injectors – like those on our team here in Tewksbury – is a vital component to ensure you love your results.

Do: Ice your treatment areas right before

Icing your treatment areas immediately before your injectables session will shrink your blood vessels, and the smaller they are, the less likely they are to be struck by the needle, which reduces your risk of bruising!

Don’t: Take or consume blood thinners

Any substance that thins your blood can lead to increased bleeding and bruising at the injection sites, and who wants that? Reduce your risk of bruising by cutting out alcohol at least a few days before and after your session. Other blood thinners to avoid include green tea and the 4 G’s: ginkgo, garlic, ginger, and ginseng.

Don’t: Touch your face after treatment

If you get dermal fillers, it’s important to resist the temptation to massage your treatment areas because doing so can break down your fillers before their time and also make swelling worse.

Don’t: Schedule your session for the day before a big event

To be on the safe side, schedule your session for a time when you can return home and take it easy. Any side effects will dissipate in the days following your treatment. Your job is to relax and let your skin heal itself and adjust to its new contours. Even the best changes take a little time!
