Rethink your bedtime routine

We all know that not getting enough sleep is bad for us, but of course that doesn’t make it any easier to remove the aspects of our lives that can make good sleep so elusive. Still, you can help yourself fall asleep and stay asleep by making small changes to your bedtime routine, like avoiding phone, television and laptop screens right before bed and not eating or drinking right before bed, especially things containing caffeine or sugar.

Reducing stress can seem like a lofty goal, but it can definitely help you get better sleep! Everyone’s stress-reducing methods are different, but if you know what kinds of activities help you reduce stress, whether that’s reading, a bath, some yoga stretches, music or anything else, find a way to do that before you fall asleep, even if just for 10 minutes.

Of course if you struggle with sleep apnea, as so many do, these tips and tricks may not be enough to truly improve your quality of sleep.
